Most of our presentation events  are to schools with students from 1st - 8th grades.

Hops Events can also be used by businesses, organizations & faculty groups as a team building/leadership activity,

Hops has presented to schools for whole grade groups, STEM, Alpha and Gifted Students and grade level combinations.  Usually a session will consist of 1st - 2nd or 3-5th  or 6th -8th grades. We can work with you to   have a combination style for your needs.

Have a small number of STEM or Gifted students?  No Worries! CLUSTER SITE EVENTS can possibly be formed by having neighboring schools attend.

1st & 2nd Grades - We call these grades our "Tadpoles".  We try to keep these students together. Sometimes 1st - 3rd grade level sessions are held.  With this age level the Volunteer will read the directions at the table when the team arrives.  They are not allowed to do the challenge with them!  We are amazed as these teams usually have scores
right up with the higher grades!

Hosting a Hops Event

Hops helps build performance as efficient information managers, communicators, resource managers, effective leaders & cooperative workers, confidence & pride in self. .   .  Of course all this is cleverly disguised as just plain fun !

We are able to hold 2 session in one day with up to 20 teams a session.  Obviously this depends on how much space we have.

  Educational Competitive Team

 Event - Home Office -

  Hosting a HOPS Event

Teams should have 4-6 members each, 4-5 being ideal. As a competitive event, the teams scores will be tallied for the  top 3 placements in each activity and for top overall scores for each event.  So all teams in a session will be competing against each other for high scores.

EVENT FEES

Event fees vary depending on Licensee location and number of students per session. Fees range from $10 to $15 per student:  Contact your area HOPS Licensee. 30 - 50 Students  51 - 70 students or 71 - 100 a session

Have a small number of STEM or Gifted students?  No Worries! CLUSTER SITE EVENTS can possibly be formed by having neighboring schools attend a HOPS Event.  Cluster Site Events will have anywhere from 2-6 school, it all depends on the number of students and venue to accommodate.

VENUE / EVENT -  AREA NEEDS

Media Centers, Cafeterias, Multi- purpose rooms work well.  A room large enough for 11- 23 large tables to set up the HOPS Activity Challenges.  The number of tables is determined by how many teams are in a session. Chairs are needed for Volunteers and Head Table Hops Staff.

TEACHERS

Teachers can enjoy watching their teams as they work the HOPS challenges.  Optional   " Pre" and "Post" Discussion guides are available from the School Coordinator, if so desired, for class room use to help prep teams for event. Not required though.

Teachers will also be involved with approving the team combinations of students and their team name.  They may also be involved with helping the School Coordinator with the Permission Slips as usual for a field trip.

HOPS CAN ALSO PRESENT MORE THAN JUST ONCE A YEAR!

OUR PROGRAM HAS OVER 50 DIFFERENT CHALLENGES IN RESERVE!  EACH YEAR NEW GENERATIONS OF SPECIALLY HANDCRAFTED CHALLENGING AND EXCITING ACTIVITIES ARE DEVELOPED!

SCHOOL COORDINATOR

Hops Event Presenters work with you to pencil in a "save the date" on our schedule calendar.  It is a first come first serve process to schedule your school & there are several dates to work with.

We are available by email or phone for any questions.  Your HOPS Licensee Presenter will send you information needed and a School HOPS Packet with all the info needed to get your event in process.

VOLUNTEERS INFO

We can't really function with out them & they become part of our HOPS experience!

We employ lots of volunteers, usually parents but you can include community business partners, school administrators, etc. to be scorekeepers for each of the challenges.   HOPS is a great public relations event for all involved!

Even though they are not allowed to participate in the activities the parents & teachers often have as much fun as the students!

TEAM SPIRIT FUN!

Team spirit by the teams has really grown and has become a BIG part of the whole team competitive HOPS experience!  During the event students are only referred to by their Team Name.  Students creating their own team name is the first step in using team building skills!

Although not required we often have teams bring in banners they created as a team building project, or wearing T-shirts or creative hats they have made to show their team name support!

Some of the examples we have seen have been

painted frog faces, frog stickers on shirts or faces,

super Sports - all wearing sport jerseys, Happy Kitties

 - all wearing shirts with kitties on them, or even

wearing costumes!: Super HOPS Heroes - all in super

hero costumes - Flying Frogs - complete with wings.

Students can be so creative!  Only a suggestion if you

have time for your teams to plan.
